How I handle personal data
- Who is responsible
- Clwyd Web is a trading name of Lewis Zhu, at the address above. I am the data controller for everything described here, and there is nobody else involved in deciding what happens to it.
- If you only visit this site
- This site sets no cookies. It uses no local storage and no fingerprinting, and there is nothing here that follows you to other sites. Cloudflare, who host it, count page views in aggregate without a cookie. If you fill in a contact form on one of the example or preview pages, what you type goes to Formspree, who pass it on to me by email.
- If I have written to you
- I keep a record of businesses I have contacted or intend to contact: the business name, its company number where it has one, its website, its town, a business email address, a note of any fault I spotted on the site, and a log of what I sent and whether it arrived. Some of those email addresses contain a person's name, which is why this section exists. All of it came from public sources: the Companies House register, the Food Standards Agency register, and the businesses' own websites. I did not buy a list and I did not scrape anyone's private details.
- Why I am allowed to hold it
- Legitimate interests: contacting businesses about a service that is relevant to them. Every email I send identifies me by name and tells you how to stop.
- How to make it stop
- Reply to any email I have sent and say so, or write to hello@clwydweb.co.uk. You do not have to give a reason and it takes effect as soon as I read it. I will take you off the list and stop. The one thing I keep is your email address on a do-not-contact list, because that is the only way to be certain I do not write to you again by mistake.
- Who else handles it
- Brevo sends the emails. Cloudflare hosts this site and forwards mail sent to hello@clwydweb.co.uk. Google provides the mailbox where I read replies. Formspree receives anything submitted through a form on this site. That is the complete list, and none of them are given the data for any purpose of their own.
- Where it is handled
- Brevo is a French company. Cloudflare, Google and Formspree are American, so some of this is handled outside the United Kingdom. Those transfers rely on the safeguards set out in each provider's data processing terms. Nothing goes anywhere beyond those four.
- How long I keep it
- There is no fixed period. If you ask me to remove your details I do it straight away. Otherwise a record stays while I am still contacting businesses in your area and goes when I am not. If you would rather it went sooner than that, ask and it will.
- Your rights
- You can ask what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, ask me to restrict what I do with it, and object to it being used for marketing at all. Objecting to marketing is absolute: I have to stop, and there is nothing for me to weigh against it. Email hello@clwydweb.co.uk.
- If you want to complain
- Complain to me first if you like, at hello@clwydweb.co.uk. I will acknowledge it within 30 days and deal with it as quickly as I can. You do not have to come to me first, and either way you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
